Donate to Spare a Rose

In 2013, a group of diabetes advocates from the Diabetes Online Community (DOC) came together to start a project that would support people with diabetes in under-resourced countries. They initiated a global campaign, conducted in February of each year called Spare a Rose. In the few years USD$400,000 was donated and all of the funds went to a program called Life for a Child, which provides insulin and diabetes supplies to children and young adults with type 1 diabetes.

In 2022 Spare a Rose formed a partnership with Insulin for Life and funds donated through the Spare a Rose campaign now contribute to programs which support people with diabetes who ‘age out’ of childhood and youth programs that have an upper age limit for recipients or who develop diabetes as adults.

February 2022 saw the start of an ongoing war in Ukraine. The Spare a Rose save a life campaign raised funds specifically for Ukraine. These funds were used to assist Insulin for Life which has decades of experience as a ‘first responder’ to disasters, to provide essential diabetes supplies to Ukraine (see Humanitarian project to assist the people of Ukraine).

Insulin for Life and Life for a Child continue to partner each February with the Spare a Rose save a life campaign. Donations from the campaign are directed to Insulin for Life, www.insulinforlife.org, a registered charity that provides insulin, other diabetes supplies, education and advocacy to many of the under-resourced countries supported by Life for a Child

Insulin for Life and Life for a Child  share the same goals of easing and saving the lives of people with diabetes in less advantaged regions.

Spare a Rose is a campaign for the community, by the community. Every donation counts. Join us.
